Arran Quaker Meeting
Meeting for Worship: Takes place on the second and fourth Sunday in the month. On the second Sunday of each month we meet in the library in Brodick at 11a.m. and on the fourth sunday we meet in Friends' homes.
On the second sunday in September (September 12) we are not meeting at the library in Brodick but are meeting at the home of Judith Baines, Dippen House, Dippen. Meeting for Worship will be followed by a "Bring and Share" lunch. We hope to be joined by Friends from other Meetings. If any Friends arriving on Arran by ferry either in Lochranza or Brodick would like to be met and driven to Dippen, please let us know in advance and we will arrange this.
On the fourth sunday in August(August 22) we are meeting at the home of Tessa Smith(830622), Bheinn Ard, North Newton, Lochranza. For more information please phone 01770-302 779 (Jeny Faulkner. ) or )1770- 830622 (Tessa Smith). Visitors are very welcome.
On saturday August 28 a number of us intend to travel to Tarbet in Argyll to attend Area Meeting. Any one wanting to share a lift please contact Tessa.
Arran is the largest island in the Firth of Clyde. The ferry (an hour's crossing) sails from Ardrossan on the Ayshire coast into Brodick Bay, below the mountain called Goatfell.
There are a number of Quakers scattered around Arran at present, and in 2004 Arran meeting became a worshiping group rather than a nominated meeting. Officially we are a part of Ayrshire meeting and the two groups have regular and close contact.
