William Blake, Hermeticism and the God of the Left Hemisphere

Saturday, 9 February 2019 - 2:30pm to 4:30pm

In this talk, Janet Saunders explores Blake the man, his sources and meanings, linked to the Corpus Hermeticum and the work of contemporary psychiatrist, Iain McGilchrist.

The English poet, William Blake, has left us some powerful word images ranging from “Tyger, Tyger burning bright…” to “If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite” or “How do you know but ev’ry Bird that cuts the airy way, is an immense world of delight, clos’ed by your senses five?”. Yet Blake’s work is founded on a personal mythology that is often mysterious and perplexing.

Janet Saunders gained her MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2016. She studies and teaches astrology. She will have copies of her book, “A Path to the Stars: Journeys of Discovery in Hermetic Astrology”, which draws on these same sources. They are available for sale for £12.99.
