Scottish Quakers are committed to seeking a just society in which resources are shared more equitably. We are not alone; many others share this vision. The time seems right to join with others and call for change. Together with Mairi Campbell-Jack, General Meeting Scottish Parliamentary Engagement Officer, GM Parliamentary Liaison Function Group has arranged this symposium on tackling inequalities in Scottish society. Chaired by Sally Foster-Fulton, speakers include Richard Murphy, Lesley Riddoch and Andy Wightman MSP. By agreement, it is on the programme of the Independent & Radical Book Fair in Edinburgh.

An exhibition featuring Quaker peacebuilders from seven sub-Saharan African countries. The exhibition uses photographs and personal testimonies to trace the journeys that have transformed suffering into a force for social change. Open 10.30am-5.00pm Tues 20th-Sat 24th June.
Screenings of Engage, a Forces Watch film about Cadets in schools and the Woodcraft Folk's campaign against it, and The Unseen March, a film by Quakers in Britain that reveals the UK government's concerted campaign to improve its image – from the annual Armed Forces Day events to the expansion of the Cadets programmes.
Followed by discussion and speakers: Jay Sutherland, founder of Scotland Against Militarism Campaign; Rhianna Louise from Forces Watch (by Skype Link); and Mairi Campbell-Jack, Quaker Scotland Parliamentary Liaison Officer.

Journeymen Theatre presents a double bill of plays on urgent, contemporary issues (concern for the abolition of torture and an asylum seeker’s story).
Further details of the plays and tickets can be obtained from the Brown Paper Tickets web site. Tickets are also on sale at the door.
The Journeymen Theatre event is supported by Glasgow Quakers and Refugee Festival Scotland 2017.
In the Fringe, Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House becomes Venue 40, hosting theatre, music, comedy, puppetry and the Eating House at the Meeting House, a vegetarian cafe. See more at http://www.venue40.org.uk or pop in to the Meeting House to pick up a programme.
