
During the Edinburgh Fringe, the Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House becomes Venue 40. Our venue is in the heart of the historic city centre, and our events run throughout the Fringe.

All are welcome on Doors Open Day 2018 to drop into the Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House at 7 Victoria Terrace to discover the building's past and present.
Looking at the work of 20th century artists who have had personal faith or a philosophy of life forces in nature and humanity that was inspirational. Stanley Spencer, David Jones, William Wilson, Joan Eardley and Eduardo Paolozzi all have featured in shows in the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art over the last 31 years.

Bashabi Fraser will explore how Rabindranath Tagore’s (1861-1941) concept of Jiban Debata, the Lord of his life, is the source of his creativity and spirituality.

Richard Gunn discusses if 17th Century Ranters or Quakers invented the type of concensus decision making methods used by modern radical movements such as Occupy. Followed by discussion.

As part of this year's WWI commemorations award-winning poet Chrys Salt MBE presents Home Line/Front Line, a dialogue in letters and poetry with film settings, between Chrys, a pacifist mother and her soldier son. Donations welcome and will support Quaker Peace and Social Witness.

In the voices of 52 people who lived through it, THIS EVIL THING tells the inspiring and rarely told story of the men who said no to war; and the men and women who supported them; involving a gripping journey from a chapel in Yorkshire to the House of Commons; from an English country garden to a quarry in Aberdeen; from a cell in Richmond Castle to a firing squad in France. All proceeds will go to the Opposing War Memorial Fund.

Friends from Central Edinburgh are going on the March to Remain in the EU for Peace and Climate, to demand that MPs revoke Article 50 to prevent a no deal Brexit and to confirm that the UK must remain in the EU to preserve peace in Europe and to ensure shared action to prevent climate change.
